Continuing my commitment to care with purpose in Pharmacy

I fell in love with problem-solving and efficiency when I was in school. This led me to develop an insane love for Chemistry and biology when I was introduced to them. If I didn’t ace a test in either one, it felt like the end of the world. Years later I find myself faced with the daunting task of choosing a career and if it didn't involve my two loves, it was a no go zone!
Pharmacy presented the best option. Blending my fascination with science and desire to make a difference. At the lab, blending formulas, discovering cures and bringing comfort to those in need made me jump out of bed every morning. Eight years later, armed with a degree in Bachelor of Pharmacy from the prestigious Nairobi University, industry experience from Hospitals and pharmaceutical manufacturers, I put on the white coat and hit the road, ready to make a difference.
My journey in the profession started at Karatina general hospital, where I was an intern in the pharmacy department. Within a few months, I was amazed at how the distribution of basic medicine to the areas outside major towns was deplorable. It’s been over half a decade since we became a republic. You expect us to have figured this out! Here, I witnessed firsthand how small changes could lead to significant improvements too. Finding out from nearby hospitals the stock of what we didn't have led us to spearhead an initiative that reduced stock outs. This experience ignited my passion for operations, leading me to join the start-up world as the solutions that work for Africa need to be developed by those who are feeling the hitch, Africans! This I knew is where I could make a larger impact. I also have garnered experience in medicine manufacturing with my passion being compounding, formulation and dispensing.
Enter Duhqa...
Under the guidance of the founding team at Duhqa mainly Dudu Moilwa and Victor Maina, I have worked with teams of developers, operations, marketing and commercial employees, launched Duhqa Pharma and streamlined the distribution of medicine that increased efficiency and reduced wastage. I also introduced best practices based on my study of pharmacy.
When I'm not immersed in improving operations, you'll find me volunteering in teaching people. I believe that as much as medicine cures physical ailments, a human being is complex and thus needs an all rounded approach to a healthy life that encompasses spiritual, emotional and mental well being! I’m a fitness enthusiast who walks about 10Km at least 5 days a week. These activities help me stay grounded and refreshed, ultimately making me a better leader at work.
Feel free to reach out to me for anything related to pharmacy, dispensing, formulation, operations management, process improvements, or even if you just want to exchange some interesting strategies. I'm always open to new challenges and opportunities.
